"And now as long as space endures,
As long as there are beings to be found,
May I continue likewise to remain
To drive away the sorrows of the world."
- Shantideva

These words in Shantideva's "Way of the Bodhisattva" have long been a source of inspiration to me. Like him, I aspire to alleviate the suffering of others and to be of service to the world. With this in mind, I offer three types of services:
Whidbey Island Insight Meditation Group
Most weeks, I offer mindfulness meditation sessions in the insight tradition to the Whidbey Island Insight Meditation Group. We meet most Thursdays from 5:00 - 6:30 pm PT on Zoom or in a hybrid format. We usually start with an "arriving meditation" which I lead and then I offer a talk on a particular topic for about 20 mins. After that, we do a longer silent meditation lasting about 20 mins and then we do what I call "practice sharing" in which people share about their practice or comment on their experience of the topic. Numbers fluctuate from week to week and are usually in the 15-25 people range. About one-third of the group lives on Whidbey Island, WA, where I live, and the other two-thirds live elsewhere in the US or in other countries.

Individual Mentoring
I offer private one-on-one mentoring sessions in person, on Zoom or on the phone. My approach to mentoring is based on meditative listening, co-inquiry, and occasional guidance. I aspire to create a safe and loving space in which people can share from the deepest parts of themselves - authentically and honestly. Sessions are usually 60 minutes long and scheduled in advance. I offer two types of individual mentoring which can be combined:

I offer two types of individual mentoring which can be combined:
- Mindfulness mentoring to support you to start, sustain or deepen your meditation practice - on the cushion and/or in daily life. In these sessions, we work together to develop your practice by clarifying your intentions and reflecting on what actually happens in your meditation. I also offer suggestions on different types of meditation, techniques and resources.
- Spiritual accompaniment to support you in navigating your life's journey. In these sessions, we work together to uncover your inner wisdom to discern what is true for you and how to you can act on it. Over time, I bear witness to your spiritual path - its joys and its sorrows - and assist you in developing your awareness of, and connection with, the mystery that lies at the heart of human existence.
