“Dana brings happiness at every stage of its expression.
We experience joy in forming the intention to be generous.
We experience joy in the actual act of giving something.
And we experience joy in remembering the fact that we have given.”

Dana
I offer all my services - mentoring, teaching, workshops, retreats, etc. - on a "dana" basis, rather than charging set rates.
Dana is the Pāli word for generosity, giving or donation. It is regarded as an essential spiritual practice in many Buddhist traditions and it is considered the first of the Buddhist virtues (paramis). This is because dana provides so many benefits to the donor. Not only does it reveal our attachments and clinging to money, it leads to an opening and releasing of the heart. In other words, dana helps the donor feel good about themselves and leads to awakening. Some Buddhists also believe there are positive karmic effects that result from dana.
Dana has been offered and received ever since the time of the Buddha, when monks, nuns and lay teachers freely offered the Teachings to anyone who wanted them. In some Buddhist traditions, this practice of offering generosity to teachers continues to this day. And it is with this in mind that I provide my services on a dana/donation basis.
